Harvest Sky Taxidermy

The Harvest Sky Taxidermy story

Growing up in the hunting world since he could walk, Allyn has always been fascinated with the way taxidermists bring animals "back to life" after the harvest. In 2006, Allyn's dad ordered him two "Deer Taxidermy" videos from a McKenzie catalog. After studying these videos constantly, Allyn mounted his first whitetail in 2008. As any first time experience, it was not the best piece of work. However he still has this mount hanging in his trophy room to remind him of where he got started. In 2012, Allyn took a taxidermy class at River Valley Taxidermy in eastern South Dakota to continue the learning process. Fast forward to today, Allyn has completed nearly one hundred european mounts along with multiple deer shoulder mounts. His drive for perfection and constant learning fuels his taxidermy projects. With Allyn doing the messy work and Holly doing the fine tuning, we make a great taxidermy team. The Gonsor's have been licensed taxidermists since 2012.

Shoulder Mounts

There is no other way to commemorate a harvest and respect the animal than by displaying it in your home for you to constantly cherish. Whatever position you would like to remember your deer in, we will bring it back to life. Using the industry leading supply companies and the most advanced techniques, we would love to form a hunter/taxidermist relationship with you.

Turn around times for shoulder mounts are roughly 9-12 months. The main factor is how soon your hide returns from the tannery.

European Mounts

A very budget friendly yet stylish option to mount your deer is to have it european mounted. This is where the animals skull is cleaned and whitened; ready to be displayed. We also sell hand made hardwood display plaques to help hang your mount to the wall.

Turn around times are typically 6-8 weeks. Your skull will be completely cleaned, rest in a degreasing/deodorizing bath and then finally whitened to perfection. A clear coat will be applied to help preserve and protect the skull.
